Custom Ducati 749 Racer | Jett Design

The passions are born of young people, when they are children and so it is believed that every dream can be put together and even Andrew, like many, has been fascinated by motorcycles, with a particular fascination for Ducati.

Jett says:  "Having studied fine arts and design in college, designing motorcycles enables me to use creativity to merge functionality with flair and aesthetics.
My first project was a Triumph Street Triple which I wanted to embody the spirit of the 1970 Gran Prix and enduro racers.

I decided to focus on a Ducati for my next project because of the emotion these bikes inspire. They have tons of character and a certain feel that is not present in any other bike. I turned to the Ducati 749 because it has the perfect balance of power and handling, in my opinion.  The   749 has certain styling characteristics that set it apart from its predecessors. I wanted to keep the basic design cues, while enhancing other features to create a more aesthetically pleasing package.

The goal of this build was to create a better handling, harder accelerating lightweight bike. I knew I needed to remove a good amount of weight, ending with a weight of 378 pounds once the bike was complete.  This is 65 pounds less than the wet weight of a 749.

I redesigned and built the front fairing with just one light instead of the factory double stacked light configuration, along with a hand cut low profile windscreen to give a sleeker overall look. Sean of MotoRelic was tasked with creating a hand built aluminum tail, along with a twin exit GP style race exhaust and an aluminum battery box cover. A special thanks to Sean at MotoRelic for all his help on this project, Faster Twin with the mechanicals and tuning. Paint by Craig at Homeward Bound Motorcycles.
