The little 1979 Ducati Pantah 500SL FRP TT

The little 1979 Ducati Pantah 500SL FRP TT all shipshape and ready to ride. Very fast and good handling. The perfect historic track day tool.

These images come from Neville Fischer's page, and are accompanied by this phrase, which fully reflects my way of doing "I know it's too many photos but it's my page so I can do whatever I want to. me you won't mind. "

In the second half of the seventies, Ducati was worried about the commercial fiasco of the 350/500 twin-cylinder engines, the engineer Taglioni was commissioned to design a new bike, the Ducati technical department set to work, in early 1976, to realize what will become one of the most important engines in its history. The scheme chosen is that of the longitudinal 90 ° V-twin engine (commonly called "L") designed by Taglioni I completely design the crankcase, inverting the rotation of the engine and using toothed belts (instead of, as originally planned, a chain) to control the desmodromic distribution.
However, the importance of that engine goes beyond the production numbers, having become the functional model from which all the Ducati engines of the future took inspiration.
