Evergreen GPz 810 Restomod

The 80s superbikes are always more appreciated by fans because they are part of that common story that has seen us admire and dream them when they were children, but even if they have a timeless charm and they have technological limits due to age. There is only one solution, the restomod, improving those parts that are not at the top.
And that's what Marko Visacki did from Serbia, and this is his story and that of his GPZ 810

About 10 years ago, I bought myself a basket case of 1984 Kawasaki GPZ750 A2. Some guys in Austria tore it down for painting, and never got it together.
It is a motorcycle that won 1983 Superbike Championship in the hands of Wayne Rainey, using vintage 8 valve aircooled technology managed to beat Honda's new water cooled 16v VF750R.
I got it completed, and drove it for about 7-8 years in original factory shape.

As years went by, i got some modern stuff (ZX9R) and the GPZ stood forgotten in friends garage for few years, until the worm inside of me started yelling that I should get it back on the road but in some more modern way of form, and correcting all the bits and pieces i always wanted but never did.
The lack of power compared to the modern things wasn't the main problem, but I was really tired of that 80s railroad train type of handling.
Also decided that I'm not gonna cut anything off the frame or make inreversable changes, cause maybe one day I'll turn it back into original shape.

Engine is now based on Wiseco Big Bore kit of 810cm3, using 10,25:1 pistons. It is now 3mm overbore compared to the standard.
Front end is from Honda RC36 VFR750, combined with braided steel lines and sinther pads. Fork is also upgraded using CNC made catridge's on top in order to retain lenght, since the modern forks are much shorter than the original air assisted oness from the 80s. Dual adjusting handlebars are period correct from 1986 VFR1000R

Rear shock absorber is from Kawasaki ZR7. Since original GPZ engine is known for common problems with starter clutch, whole secondary shaft assembly is replaced with the one from ZR7s which has ugpraded version.

For the rear I wanted to leave original aluminium swingarm but use 17 wheel also (Honda CBR600F3), and a change from 630 to 530 chain.
Replaced Unitrak linkeage bushings, and some machining on the hub had to be done, and new spacers + adding some spacers under the front sprocket (Which is offset by 7mm in original), to get everything where it should be. Rear brake calipers are from CBR600RR.
Rear brake is now 160/70/17 and front is 120/70/17. Originals were 130/80/18 on rear and 110/90/18 on front.

Moriwaki ignition, and original L&W 4-1 exhaust made specificaly for this model. It also allows you to reach oil filter without removing it. Paintjob is candy pearl green with handpainted decals and stripes, there are no stickers on the motorcycle.
