Ronins #4 are inspired by two pieces of art from Scot Lefavor which have been hanging in the Ronin Motor Works shop since inception. Mr. Lefavor, originally from Boston, Massachusetts, is well known in the Colorado art community and his murals can be found on many buildings in the Denver and Boulder areas.
From the website The Denver Egotist, Mr. Lefavor's style is described as "heavily influenced by contemporary street art and the pop art movement of the 60’s" and that his work "tends to be highly narrative and emotionally charged", drawing "directly from his personal experiences and current socio-economic trends and events to create his narratives." Portions of Mr. Lefavor's painting "More Thrilling Adventures with Firearms" was superimposed on Ronin #4, Sugeno Harufusa, and his other painting "Why Shit Sucks in '08" was used to decorate Ronin #3, Nakamura Masatoki.
Number 4 is the first of two in this group and is named after Sugeno Harufusa. His mother committed suicide to make him free from encumbrance, and he showed great valor on the night of the attack. - Forty Seven Ronin 1893
