After showing a racing-inspired Sportster, here is another contender for the King of Kings Custom Build Competition title, a FORTY-EIGHT than the dealer Gold Coast Harley-Davidson wanted to transform inspired by the world of racing
The Build Team from the 2019 Battle of the Kings were once again in play for this build, but the main drivers behind the Daytona were Jack Baugh and Matt Valentine.
Jack is Gold Coast H-D Service Manager and a former Harley-Davidson® Master Tech, he brings 18yrs H-D® dealership experience to the table. Being a huge fan of original 1950s Cafe Racers from his homeland of England and Sportsters®, he couldn't wait to get started on this build.
Matt Valentine is the Technician on the build having full creative freedom and was given the hard task of turning dreams and visions into a workable reality. At the end of 2020, Matt will also become a fully qualified Harley-Davidson® Master Technician. Matt has already gained a name on the Gold Coast as a great creative custom bike builder. He was also the Technician on our Winning Battle of the Kings build "The Hollister Riot" in 2019.
Nothing can be taken away from anyone at Gold Coast Harley® though, as both Jack and Matt were assisted by many of the staff for the whole process to come to fruition. This really was a team effort.
This bike is truly a Custom King, it sports a number of one-off hand made parts, and many obstacles needed to be overcome to make it work.
